  • 2 pounds sweet potatoes Peeled and cubed
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup butter Softened
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon

Topping

  • 1/2 cup chopped pecans
  • 1/4 cup flour

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Peel and cube the sweet potatoes, then boil them in water until tender. Drain and mash them in a large bowl.
  • Mix the brown sugar, milk, butter, vanilla, salt, and cinnamon into the mashed sweet potatoes until well combined.
  • Spread the mixture into a greased baking dish.

Topping

  • In a separate bowl, combine the chopped pecans, flour, and additional brown sugar to create a topping.
  • Sprinkle the pecan mixture over the sweet potato base.

Baking

  • Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and crispy.
  • Let cool slightly before serving.

Notes

For an extra creamy texture, you can add more milk or even cream to the sweet potato mixture. Feel free to adjust the spices. If you like it spicier, add a pinch of nutmeg or some ginger. To save time, you can use canned sweet potatoes; just ensure to drain them well before mashing. Alternatively, you can top with mini marshmallows for a sweeter dessert-like version.
