  • 1 turkey 1 turkey (12-14 pounds) Make sure the turkey is completely thawed
  • 2 cups 2 cups of stuffing You can try different types of stuffing like cornbread or sausage stuffing
  • 1/2 cup 1/2 cup of unsalted butter, melted Melted for mixing with herbs
  • 1 cup 1 cup of chicken broth For adding moisture to the turkey while roasting
  • 2 tablespoons 2 tablespoons of olive oil For the butter mixture
  • 1 tablespoon 1 tablespoon of garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon 1 tablespoon of onion powder
  • 1 tablespoon 1 tablespoon of salt Adjust to taste
  • 1 tablespoon 1 tablespoon of black pepper Adjust to taste
  • 1 teaspoon 1 teaspoon of thyme
  • 1 teaspoon 1 teaspoon of rosemary
  • to garnish none Fresh herbs for garnish Use your favorite fresh herbs

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 325°F (160°C).
  • Prepare the turkey by removing the giblets and rinsing it under cold water.
  • Pat the turkey dry with paper towels.
  • In a bowl, mix the melted butter, olive oil, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, pepper, thyme, and rosemary.
  • Carefully lift the skin on the turkey breast and rub some of the butter mixture underneath.
  • Rub the rest all over the outside of the turkey.
  • Stuff the turkey cavity with 2 cups of stuffing.

Cooking

  • Place the turkey in a roasting pan and pour chicken broth into the pan.
  • Cover the turkey loosely with foil.
  • Roast the turkey in the oven for about 13-15 minutes per pound.
  • Remove the foil during the last 30-45 minutes to allow the skin to crisp up.
  • Check the internal temperature using a meat thermometer. It should reach 165°F (74°C).
  • Let it rest for 20-30 minutes before carving.

Notes

For serving, carve the turkey and arrange slices on a platter alongside favorite side dishes. Store leftovers in airtight containers in the refrigerator for up to four days, or freeze wrapped tightly for longer storage. Always use a meat thermometer to ensure perfect cooking.
