Batter

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1/2 cup butter, melted
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a large bowl, mix sliced apples with granulated sugar, cinnamon, and vanilla extract. Spread the apple mixture in a greased baking dish.
  • In another bowl, combine flour, brown sugar, baking powder, salt, and melted butter. Gradually add buttermilk to the dry ingredients, stirring until just combined.
  • Pour the batter over the apples, covering them evenly.

Baking

  • Bake for 45-50 minutes or until the top is golden brown and a toothpick comes out clean.
  • Let it cool slightly before serving.

Notes

Serve warm, ideally with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or whipped cream on top. For storage, after cooling, store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for about three days. Reheat in the oven or microwave before serving again. Variations include adding nuts for crunch or raisins for extra sweetness.
